About

Citing inspiring pop and modernist artists such as Andy Warhol, Willem de Kooning, and Egon Schiele, American artist Hilary Bond explores contemporary femininity through boldly colored portraits of female figures. Her bold color palette, energetic layers, and thick outlines emphasize female strength. Through images of iconic women such as Kate Moss or Kim Kardashian, Bond likens her work to that of Monet's famous "Olympia", in which the female figure confronts femininity as a source of power.

This colorful 18 inch high by 36 inch wide unique figurative artwork is wired and ready to hang. The sides of this unique modern artwork are painted. It does not require framing. The painting is signed by the artist on the front. Affordable Continental U.S. and worldwide shipping. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included.

Abstract Expressionism, Pop Art, American culture, and childhood influence Hilary Bond’s choices in color, brush work, material, and composition: "I was searching for inspiring female figures and a female ideal, archetype, and muse. I started painting models, in particular, Kate Moss. The composition and line quality influence my color choice and ultimately the overall emotion of the work. I want my paintings to be mysterious, beautiful, assertive, and to have their own inner dialogue."

Hilary Bond was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. After attending the Baltimore School for the Arts she went to The Cooper Union and received her BFA in 2007. Hilary’s artworks are featured on the CBS hit show “2 Broke Girls” and have been exhibited and collected internationally.

Hilary Bond

Hilary Bond was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. She received a BFA from the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art and an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute.

Citing Andy Warhol, Willem de Kooning, and Egon Schiele as influences, she creates bold depictions of strong women. Through these images of women, Bond explores contemporary femininity as well as the concept of the artists’ “muse” and how it relates to female identity.

The artist began painting models like Kate Moss in her exploration of the “ideal” female and relates her images of women to Edouard Manet’s “Olympia.” Her bold color palette and thick black outlining emphasizes female strength and assertiveness and confronts the idea that women must be quiet and submissive.

Hilary Bond’s work has been exhibited All over the country in group and solo exhibitions. Her work has been featured on television in CBS’s “Two Broke Girls.”
